Ness Valley is a rural area in Clevedon, where three separate private landowners engaged Kauri Park Projects to deliver ecological planting to protect the riparian catchment within their boundaries. Each site required riparian planting along waterways, with species selected by the project ecologist to manage water runoff and support water quality. The planting met Auckland Council consenting requirements and enabled the landowners to progress subdivision of their rural lots.

The landowners were looking for a supplier who could take the project end-to-end, from fencing and site preparation through to planting, maintenance, and Auckland Council sign-off. Experience working with rural subdivision requirements and a track record of securing council sign-off were key factors in the engagement.

Kauri Park Projects delivered end-to-end project management across all three sites, including site preparation, plant supply, installation, and maintenance. On one of the Ness Valley plantings, 350 metres of 8-wire fencing was installed ahead of planting to keep livestock from entering the planted area, with 120,000 plants established across that site. Supply was drawn from Kauri Park Nurseries, with species supplied in line with ecologist-developed restoration plans for each property.

The plantings established over 176,000 plants across the Ness Valley, protecting the riparian catchment across all three properties and enabling the landowners to obtain resource consent and progress the subdivision of their rural lots.
