Private Land Native Restoration

Private Land Native Restoration Case Study

Transforming 50 acres of underutilised land into a thriving native ecosystem for future generations.

Client: Private Landowner

Expertise: Environmental Restoration

Plants: 35,000

Project Timeline: 2021 - 2025

Private landowners play a powerful role in restoring New Zealand’s landscapes. By planting natives on underutilised land, they not only enhance their properties but also contribute to biodiversity, cleaner waterways, and long-term ecological resilience.

Native Restoration

Kauri Park was engaged by a private landowner to transform approximately 50 acres of underutilised land into a thriving native ecosystem. The client, passionate about environmental restoration, invested in a large-scale planting project to enhance the natural beauty of his estate and contribute to long-term ecological recovery.

Using a carefully selected mix of native species suited to the site’s conditions, we established a planting plan designed for resilience, biodiversity, and fast canopy development. In just two years, the results have been remarkable — much of the site is already approaching canopy cover, with strong growth and natural regeneration taking hold.

This project is a prime example of how private investment can accelerate native restoration and breathe life back into marginal land. We’re proud to have partnered with a landowner committed to creating lasting ecological value on his property.
