Southern Gateway is a large commercial development at the entrance to Auckland Airport. Designed as both a business precinct and an ecologically integrated landscape, the project combines commercial infrastructure with extensive native planting, wetland systems, and streetscape works.
A large wetland bowl formed by Dempsey Wood Contractors required establishment with native wetland species and specimen trees suited to the site conditions. The offset wetland pond areas also required preparation works, with dense weed cover mechanically mulched ahead of planting.
Kauri Park Projects was responsible for all planting across the site, covering the wetland bowl, offset wetland ponds, and street tree planting throughout the development.
With over 75,000 native plants installed across the site, the project delivers large-scale ecological planting integrated throughout a major commercial development.
